Candid Kid Portraits: Smith Family

Photo of little Emma playing on her slideTaking candid shots of young kids is always just so much fun isn't it! Who can resist their playfulness and cuteness.

And they are just such willing models who don't need much direction at all. You just have to let them be themselves. Young girls in particular just love posing for the camera.

So here's a few more brags of some more of my cute nephews and nieces, this time some candid shots of my sister Gill's kids: Dillon, Madison, and Emma. Oh, and family pet, Max, the King Charles cavalier spaniel.

Old Petrol Pump License Up For Auction for NZ Green Party Candidate

NZ Green Party Oil and Energy Campaign Ad 2008I recently licensed my photo of an old petrol pump up the Wanganui River Road in my home town in New Zealand to Green Party 2008 candidate David Hay. The license is for email and website campaign advertising.

David and the Green Party are interested in also licensing the photo for print advertising campaigns and in a novel idea proposed by David the license fee is up for auction on New Zealand's auction website TradeMe, which is similar to eBay.

You can follow the auction here. The auction closes on August 10th.

Old Petrol Pump

Click to view Photo of an Old Petrol Pump on the Wanganui River Road New ZealandDriving up the Wanganui River road in New Zealand last March I noticed this old gas pump (petrol pump as they would say there) at the side of the road. What a forlorn memory to days gone by it made. Of course it has high photographic interest because it is so incongruous. I sits in the grass for a start, and has no structure around it. It looks so out of place. For whatever reason, it has been let be. The gauge dial is in gallons, which tells you it's at least 40 years old since New Zealand adopted the metrics system in the mid-60s. How amazing that it still stands there, slowly rusting, and with lichen growing on it. For its age it actually is standing up incredibly well. I love the sky in the background too. It adds some real drama to the photo.

This and all my photos are available for sale in limited editions on the highest quality archival photographic paper. If you are interested in purchasing a print, or licensing the image, please send me an email. There's a contact link at the bottom of most pages.
